The inaugural Gibsons Cook Off was held on Saturday, September 15. While the sun didn't shine as much as we would have liked, the rain stayed away for a great day of family, fun and food for all.
Five teams from the Gibsons community arrived bright and early and started cooking their ribs at 9am in preparation for the competition. Many people from the Gibsons community came by throughout the day to enjoy the hot dogs, bouncy castles, kids games and good times.
Many thanks to the local organizations who entered the competition:
Tickets were available for purchase to people wanting to try a sampling of each team's ribs. There was an active crowd throughout the day and anticipation was growing as the contest was about to begin. Trophies were awarded to a People's Champion and Judges Choice.
People's Champion: Kenmac Auto
Judge's Choice:
1. Coastal Craft Yachts
2. Royal Canadian Legion
3. Calvary Baptist Church
Many thanks to all of our teams for coming out, our judges for taking time out of their day, and to all the volunteers who helped make the day run smoothly. Special thanks go to all of the local organizations for contributing time, prizes or supplies:
We look forward to seeing everyone next year for the 2nd Annual Cook Off. Details and photos from the event can be found on the Gibsons Cook Off Facebook page.
